The piece is a surreal fairy-tale circus, its characters scattered about following up the departure of a clumsy, oafish giant. Broad white-and-yellow stripes of paint “tent” the space, offering Lilliputian, white-fired ceramic figurines of humans and other vaguely familiar forms flimsy protection from the outside world. In disarray but calm after a Goliath’s sudden visit, they climb onto the smooth wood towers clustered in the space or seemingly leap from teeter-totters and park benches in a bid to find safe ground. Ballerinas in mid-pirouette spin next to soldiers slumped over in sleep, or perhaps death.
