Recipient of the 2019 National Design Award for Design Mind,  Patricia  Moore will share how the deliberateness of design defines our lives and destiny with an interactive conversation and blueprint for the future and today.

Patricia Moore is an internationally renowned gerontologist and designer, serving as a leading authority on consumer lifespan behaviors and requirements. For a period of three years, Dr. Moore traveled throughout the United States and Canada disguised as women more than 80 years of age. With her body altered to simulate the normal sensory changes associated with aging, she was able to respond to people, products, and environments as an elder. 

ID Magazine named Moore as one of The 40 Most Socially Conscious Designers in the world, and in 2000, was selected by a consortium of news editors and organizations as one of The 100 Most Important Women in America. Syracuse University selected Moore for a 2012 Honorary Doctorate for serving as a “guiding force for a more humane and livable world, blazing a path for inclusiveness, as a true leader in the movement of Universal Design.” The Rochester Institute of Technology inducted Moore as a 2012 member of the “INNOVATORS Hall of Fame.” ABC World News featured Moore as one of 50 Americans Defining the New Millennium. 

Moore was honored with the Cooper Hewitt’s prestigious 2019 National Design Award for Design Mind. In 2020, The Center for Health Design honored Moore with the CHANGEMAKER Award.
