About the Event
Join us at SMoCA’s Fall Opening to celebrate a new season of exhibitions! This fun-filled VIP experience will kick off at 5 p.m. with drinks and light bites. At 5:45 p.m., an intimate conversation between artist Phillip K. Smith III and award-winning SMoCA architect Will Bruder will take place inside Smith’s Three Parallels exhibition. After the conversation, the world premiere of Four Shades, a 20-minute site-specific performance created by dance artist Nicole L Olson (NicoleOlson|MovementChaos) and intermedia/music artist Shomit Barua, will be presented in Smith’s installation.
This portion of the evening is ticketed with limited availability. Light bites and two drink tickets per guest are included. Please note there will be limited seating available, so plan for the possibility of standing or walking for the duration of the performance.
The party will continue from 7 to 9 p.m. with music, a cash bar, and the world premiere of a special solo performance by Nicole L Olson, presented in and inspired by Roelof Knol’s the space in between.
