The Museum is seeking support to print an important exhibition catalog that was defunded due to the COVID-19 crisis. Counter-Landscapes: Performative Actions from the 1970s – Now presents nearly 50 years of performative interventions in the landscape highlighting the enduring legacy of the pioneers of feminist art and the continued urgency of topics such as climate change, identity, and migration.
We are seeking to raise $6,000 that will be generously matched—dollar for dollar—by a longstanding funder to SMoCA. This is an important catalog for the 23 artists involved, for the Museum, and for its contribution to the field of art history. The essays and interviews present a more inclusive and diverse history of art and emphasize the importance of multiple viewpoints, and a plurality of voices.
