Jennifer Marman and Daniel Borins: The Collaborationists showcases the ambitious kinetic sculptures, paintings, installations and sound art in the Canadian artists’ largest exhibition to date. The Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art is the only museum in the United States to present this groundbreaking installation. The artists utilize unusual materials—including mechanized window blinds, motors and custom software, as well as traditional paper, canvas, paint and oil stick—to create unexpected combinations of colors, geometry and materials that reference minimalism and architectural abstraction. Sophisticated technology hidden within these theatrical artworks produces surprising and unsettling human-computer interactions, hinting at contemporary anxieties about the control and transmission of information, privacy and surveillance.
